Overview
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical and organizational skills who enjoys working with numbers, building processes, and ensuring accuracy in fast-paced environments. You will work closely with our HR, legal, and accounting teams to manage payroll execution, contractor payment tracking, and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
50% Payroll Administration
Manage bi-monthly payroll for international contractors using global payroll platforms (e.g., Rippling, Deel).
Track payments and ensure accurate deductions for laptops, bonuses, and other expenses.
Maintain internal payroll tracking documents using Google Sheets or Excel.
Monitor exchange rates and verify platform accuracy for currency conversions.
Follow up on payment discrepancies or delays with payroll providers and financial institutions.
30% Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
Coordinate with Colombian accounting vendors to ensure tax compliance and documentation for all contractors.
Liaise with AAS’s U.S.-based accountant to organize expense records and ensure proper business reporting.
Ensure records are up-to-date and compliant with local labor and financial laws.
Help prepare reports and documentation for audits, tax filings, or internal review.
20% Process Development & Vendor Coordination
Proactively improve and document payroll workflows and systems.
Establish best practices for tracking and resolving payroll issues.
Collaborate with tech, accounting, and legal vendors to ensure systems are functioning and obligations are met.
Support internal training or documentation efforts related to payroll processes.
Qualifications
Proven experience with payroll operations, preferably involving international payments.
Familiarity with global payroll platforms (e.g., Rippling, Deel, Remote).
Strong knowledge of Colombian tax law and contractor legal frameworks.
Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
Proficient in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data cleaning).
Bilingual in Spanish and English, with excellent written and verbal communication.
Comfortable working independently and collaborating across remote teams.
Bonus Skills
Experience managing FX (foreign exchange) transfers and reconciling discrepancies.
Previous work with startups or fast-paced international companies.
Understanding of U.S. business accounting principles.
